President Prabowo Subianto expressed his high appreciation to the Government of Thailand for its cooperation in repatriating approximately 1,000 Indonesian citizens (WNI). The Indonesian nationals were previously victims of a transnational online scam network.
President Prabowo conveyed these thanks during a joint press conference with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The bilateral meeting, held as part of the Second Indonesia-Thailand Leaders' Consultation, took place at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (3/8/2026).
The Thai government's action in facilitating the return of the victims is viewed as concrete proof of the strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation between the two countries in combating international crime.
