Isu Pergantian Kapolri, Sahroni: Wajar Berhembus Karena Beliau Sudah Lima Tahun

DPR Has Yet to Receive Presidential Letter Amid Rumors of Police Chief Replacement

The House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has asserted that it has not yet received a Presidential Letter (Surpres) regarding a proposed replacement for the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri). The clarification was issued in response to recent rumors surrounding the top leadership position of the national police force.

Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission II Ahmad Sahroni stated that House leadership has not received any official document from the Palace. He confirmed that there is currently no process underway to nominate a new figure to replace General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"Well, if you already know, then go ahead and publish it. We don't have [the letter]. If you ask, I'll definitely answer. The issue is, it doesn't exist," Sahroni told reporters at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (4/8/2026).

Sahroni noted that President Prabowo Subianto continues to retain Listyo Sigit as Police Chief because his overall performance has been good. According to him, discourse regarding leadership changes in state institutions is a normal occurrence among the public, but all final decisions remain under the full authority of the President.
