LANGSA — Misfortune befell two middle-aged women who fell victim to a violent snatch theft on the Medan-Banda Aceh Highway, specifically in the Gampong Lhok Bani area of Langsa City, on Friday night (28/8/2026).
The two victims were identified as Rosmaladewi (58), a resident of BTN Sungai Pauh, West Langsa District, Langsa City, and her companion, Nur Elvisahra (57). The street crime occurred while they were on their way home after attending a condolence visit at a relative's house.
Thrown onto the Roadway
The ill-fated incident began as the two victims were traveling along the Medan-Banda Aceh national highway on a motorcycle. Midway through their journey in the Gampong Lhok Bani area, their vehicle was suddenly closed in on by street criminals who attempted to violently snatch the victims' valuables.
The perpetrators' forceful pull caused the victims' motorcycle to lose control. Consequently, Rosmaladewi and Nur Elvisahra were thrown off and fell heavily onto the asphalt road. The incident unfolded so rapidly that the victims had no time to protect themselves from the impact.
As a result of the violent crash onto the surface of the inter-provincial highway, both elderly women sustained fairly severe facial injuries and physical trauma from falling off the moving vehicle.
Evacuated to Langsa Regional Hospital
Nearby residents and passing motorists immediately rushed to the scene to provide first aid. Realizing that both victims were covered in blood and required immediate medical attention, bystanders quickly evacuated them.
Both victims were taken straight to the Langsa Regional General Hospital (RSUD) to receive intensive emergency medical treatment from a team of doctors. Treatment focused on cleaning their wounds and monitoring their facial and bodily injuries to ensure there was no internal trauma from hitting the asphalt.
Local Police Investigation
The violent robbery targeting these middle-aged women on the highway was promptly reported to the authorities. The case is now being intensively handled by law enforcement officers from the Langsa Police.
Langsa Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Hyrowo, through the Langsa Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim), acted swiftly to follow up on the street crime. Police officers have gathered preliminary statements from the scene and conducted a crime scene investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine their whereabouts.
Police officers continue to pursue the perpetrators and enhance surveillance across crime-prone spots along the Medan-Banda Aceh Highway to prevent recurring incidents that endanger the safety of motorists.
