Efforts by public prosecutors to overturn an acquittal in an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of portable sinks at the Aceh Education Office have officially fallen through, after the Banda Aceh High Court refused to process the appeal submitted by the prosecution.
The decision is stipulated in Ruling Number 33/PIDSUS-TPK/2026/PT BNA, issued on July 31, 2026. During the session, the panel of high court judges declared that the prosecutors' appeal request was inadmissible.
The rejection was handed down because the appeal violates the latest provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. Under Law Number 20 of 2025, prosecutors are not permitted to appeal acquittals issued by a court.
With the issuance of this ruling by the Banda Aceh High Court, the acquittal status of the defendant in the sink procurement corruption case remains legally valid.
