Residents in Aceh are currently struggling to secure cement for construction needs. The region's cement supply is experiencing a deficit of up to 500 tons, or approximately 12,500 bags, every day. This scarcity stems from a surge in public demand that has outstripped production capacity and distribution capabilities.
Due to these supply constraints, cement prices in several areas have surged drastically. In some locations, the price per bag has now breached Rp 100,000 to Rp 120,000.
The situation has drawn serious concern from the Aceh Provincial Government over fears that it could disrupt repair projects and the construction of public facilities.
"The governor's directive is clear: the cement supply must be restored immediately so as not to hamper development, particularly post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction programs as well as public needs," said Aceh Government Spokesperson Nurlis Effendi.
The Aceh Government is committed to promptly restoring supply routes so that cement prices return to normal and post-disaster rehabilitation projects can proceed smoothly.
