The Southwest Aceh Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD Abdya) has called on the public to remain on high alert for potential flooding and landslides. This advisory comes following increased rainfall across the Blangpidie area and its surroundings.
Acting Chief Executive of BPBD Abdya, Mukhsin, urged residents to regularly check weather forecasts from official government sources. He emphasized that this measure is crucial for early hazard detection and mitigating the adverse impacts of extreme weather.
For communities living along riverbanks, BPBD advised limiting activities near the water to guard against flash floods or sudden overflows. Meanwhile, residents living near slopes and hilly areas are urged to exercise heightened caution regarding the risk of landslides or soil movement.
To reduce the potential for waterlogging, the public is encouraged to work together in maintaining clean drainage channels in their respective neighborhoods. BPBD Abdya also requested residents to immediately report and coordinate with local officials if they observe any potential hazards or disaster incidents in their area.
