The Aceh Barat Daya (Abdya) Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has urged all residents to heighten their vigilance against the threat of floods and landslides. The advisory was issued following heavy rainfall that has battered the Abdya region and its surroundings over the past two days.
Acting Head of Abdya BPBK, Mukhsin ST, called on the public to exercise extra caution and remain alert during this extreme weather. Residents carrying out activities or living in disaster-prone areas have been asked to step up their vigilance.
The potential for natural disasters in Abdya has escalated alongside high rainfall that could trigger river overflows, such as the Krueng Tangan-tangan river stream, which recently overflowed and struck village (gampong) settlements. Residents living along riverbanks and hill slopes are advised to continuously monitor their surroundings to anticipate the impacts of severe weather.
