The crisis storm hitting Persiraja had actually begun to brew since the opening week of the competition in mid-September. Playing in front of their home supporters, the Rencong Warriors suffered a shocking 0-1 narrow defeat against Semen Padang FC (13/9).
Hopes of bouncing back briefly surged a week later during an away match at PSPS Pekanbaru’s headquarters. However, instead of bringing home points, Persiraja’s defense was breached again, resulting in another 1-2 defeat (19/9). The climax came in Bogor last weekend. Hopes to break the negative trend evaporated at the hands of Persikad Depok, leaving Persiraja languishing at the bottom of the standings with zero points from three matches.
Ironically, the club’s management had previously placed high hopes on team stability. The contract of experienced head coach Jaya Hartono had just been extended in late June to maintain tactical continuity. However, three consecutive losses proved to be the absolute limit of the club president’s patience.
