BANDA ACEH — A motorcycle theft case in Banda Aceh City has been solved. The Vehicle Theft Special Unit (Opsnal Ranmor) of the Banda Aceh City Police Criminal Investigation Department (Satreskrim) has detained two underage students and recovered two motorbikes suspected to be stolen from two different locations.
The two students, identified by their initials FM (13) and RKF (15), were taken into custody early Friday morning, September 25, 2026, at around 01:20 WIB, after police acted on a tip-off from residents regarding suspected motorcycle thefts at two separate locations in Banda Aceh.
During the operation, police also located and secured two motorbikes suspected to be the stolen property, namely a Yamaha Mio Soul and a Honda Supra.
Banda Aceh Police Chief Senior Commissioner Teguh Priyambodo Nugroho, speaking through Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit Commissioner Miftahuda Dizha Fezuono, stated that the two students have been detained along with the evidence for further investigation.
“The two suspects have been secured along with the evidence to undergo further legal proceedings,” Commissioner Dizha said in a statement on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Triggered by a Tip-Off from Residents
The resolution of this case began when the Vehicle Theft Special Unit of the Banda Aceh Police Satreskrim received information from local residents about alleged motorcycle thefts committed by two teenagers in two different locations.
Police subsequently launched an investigation to verify the information and visited the residence of FM, one of the minors allegedly involved.
Based on initial questioning, Dizha noted that the minor provided statements regarding the suspected motorcycle thefts carried out together with his accomplice.
Officers then proceeded to the home of his friend, RKF, and detained the teenager. During preliminary questioning, both reportedly admitted to their involvement in the alleged vehicle thefts. However, the case remains under active police investigation.
Following further developments, police obtained information regarding the location of the stolen Yamaha Mio Soul.
The motorcycle was found stored at a resident’s home in Darul Imarah District, Aceh Besar Regency.
“Officers proceeded to the location, found the vehicle, and secured it,” Dizha said.
Meanwhile, the Honda Supra, also suspected to be stolen, had reportedly been sold to a scrap yard for Rp700,000.
Both motorbikes were then impounded as evidence and brought to the Banda Aceh Police Headquarters for investigative purposes.
One Bike Stolen While Owner Was Performing Dawn Prayer
The solving of this case is tied to two official police reports received by the Banda Aceh Police ranks.
One report was filed by a resident named Firdaus (51), from Banda Raya District, on July 13, 2026, at the Banda Raya Sector Police Station.
In his report, Firdaus stated that his blue 2008 Yamaha Mio Soul went missing on Monday, July 13, 2026, at around 05:30 WIB.
The motorcycle had been parked in the Gampong Geuceu Kayee Jato area, Banda Raya District, while the victim was performing the congregational Dawn (Subuh) prayer at a local mosque.
Upon finishing his prayers, Firdaus discovered that his motorcycle was no longer where he had left it. He searched the surrounding area but could not find the vehicle.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered an estimated financial loss of Rp6 million. The case was subsequently reported to the Banda Raya Sector Police for processing in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the second report pertained to an alleged motorcycle theft within the jurisdiction of the Jaya Baru Sector Police, filed on September 5, 2026.
These two reports formed the basis of the vehicle theft investigation conducted by the Banda Aceh Police Satreskrim Special Unit.
Juvenile Status: Police Involve Correctional Center
The Banda Aceh Police emphasized that the case is being handled with due consideration given to the juvenile status of the two suspects. Investigators will coordinate with the Correctional Center (Bapas), social workers, and other relevant parties throughout the legal process.
Additionally, investigators will coordinate with public prosecutors (JPU). Steps taken by the police so far include preliminary investigation, information gathering, securing the minors involved, questioning, and impounding evidence.
Police will also hold a case conference to determine the next legal steps. As of Saturday, September 26, 2026, the case remains under the handling of the Banda Aceh Police Satreskrim and is currently in the investigation phase.
Dizha assured that the processing of the case strictly adheres to applicable legal provisions governing juveniles in conflict with the law.
