Students participating in the LT-31 Literacy Thematic Student Community Service (KKN) from Syiah Kuala University (USK) marked the end of their service by holding a Literacy Festival in Gampong Jruek Balee, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar Regency, on Monday (3/8/2026). Held at the village meunasah, the event aimed to foster a new generation of literacy at the village level.
Carrying the theme "Reading, Creating, and Achieving Together," the festival was attended by dozens of village children. The organizing committee presented three main competition categories: a coloring contest, surah recitation, and a reading comprehension-based writing competition.
The reading comprehension-based writing contest drew the most attention from residents. This program was intentionally adopted from a concept by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI) to train children to comprehend reading material while expressing their thoughts in writing.
