Aceh Province is currently experiencing a cement shortage. Each day, the region must bear a deficit of around 500 tons of cement to meet the demands of the public and various development projects.
The issue was revealed during a cement availability evaluation meeting at the Aceh Regional Secretariat (Setda) Meeting Room on Tuesday (4/8/2026).
In fact, the installed capacity of the cement plant in Aceh reaches 5,400 tons per day. In theory, this amount is more than enough to cover the daily cement demand of the people of Aceh, which stands at 4,200 tons per day.
However, problems arose because current plant operations are only capable of producing around 3,700 tons per day. This mismatch between production output and high demand has triggered an ongoing cement shortage in the market.
To tackle the supply crisis, relevant authorities have begun implementing several emergency measures. These include operating packing plants 24 hours a day and supplying bulk cement from outside the region.
