**BANDA ACEH** — The Banda Aceh City Government has reaffirmed its commitment to immediately follow up on all recommendations presented by children during the city-level commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN). The instruction was issued directly by the Mayor of Banda Aceh, Illiza Sa'aduddin Djamal, after engaging in a dialogue and listening to the aspirations of the younger generation first-hand.

The peak event of Banda Aceh's National Children's Day (HAN) commemoration was held at the Putroe Phang Park green open space on Sunday (2/8/2026). During the forum, Banda Aceh Mayor Illiza Sa'aduddin Djamal interacted openly with youth representatives from various backgrounds and child organizations across the capital of Aceh Province.
This interactive dialogue was organized to provide a platform for the younger generation to share their views, concerns, and concrete proposals regarding strategic issues impacting child protection and welfare in both community and school environments.
### Four Key Points of the Youth Recommendations
In formulating the recommendations submitted to the local government, the children of Banda Aceh highlighted several crucial issues. One of the primary concerns raised was the urgent need to prevent bullying, which still frequently occurs in educational settings and public spaces.
In addition to bullying, the recommendations emphasized the necessity for stricter oversight of daycare facilities. Comprehensive supervision is considered vital to guarantee proper standards, safety, and the quality of early childhood care throughout the city.
Another critical point involves controlling the sale of products that could negatively affect children's health and morals. The children urged the city administration to tighten regulations and oversight on the open sale of tobacco products so they are not easily accessible to minors. Furthermore, restrictions and controls on the unrestricted sale of condoms at retail outlets were highlighted to prevent them from being freely sold to teenagers.
### City Govt Urges Regional Agencies to Take Concrete Action
Responding to these recommendations, the Banda Aceh City Government instructed all technical Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to promptly respond and map out concrete follow-up actions. OPD departments are expected to break down each point raised and integrate them into public service work programs and child protection policies.
The follow-up from these regional agencies is expected to go beyond ceremonial events and be realized through stronger regulations, field inspections, and consistent public awareness campaigns to foster a safe, child-friendly environment.
