Residents of Langsa City, Aceh, are currently struggling to obtain cement for construction needs. Field observations show that cement availability in nearly all local building supply stores is extremely limited and unable to meet buyer demand.
This supply deficit has triggered a price surge at the retail level. Cement brands such as Merah Putih and Dinamik, for instance, have now reached Rp78,000 per bag.
The shortage stems from minimal supply coming from distributors. Meanwhile, cement prices are projected to continue rising in the near future as various construction projects commence in the region.
