KUTACANE — An inmate at the Kutacane Class IIB Correctional Facility, Southeast Aceh Regency, has been recaptured after briefly escaping on Tuesday night (4/8/2026). The inmate's escape triggered an intensive pursuit that created a stir among local residents living near the prison compound.
According to information gathered at the scene, the sudden nighttime escape attempt put prison officers on high alert and drew immediate attention from neighboring residents.
Pursuit Causes Stir Among Residents
The escape occurred during routine surveillance of the Kutacane Class IIB Prison compound. However, the prisoner's daring attempt was swiftly noticed by guards, who acted promptly to comb the surrounding area.
The swift manhunt across nearby residential areas and around the perimeter caused commotion among locals. The panic was short-lived as a joint team and prison security officers quickly closed in on the inmate, recapturing him shortly after.
Suspected Escape Route
Based on preliminary investigations and field reports, the convict is strongly suspected of exploiting a lapse in security at the rear section of the Kutacane Class IIB Prison building.
The rear sector is believed to be the primary route taken by the inmate to scale or break through the facility's security walls. Nevertheless, internal investigations are still ongoing to determine precisely how the convict breached perimeter security or reached the back of the complex.
