IAIN Langsa Professor Urges Strict Legal Enforcement and Asset Forfeiture Regulations for Corruptors

Corruption in Indonesia remains a serious issue that requires exceptionally firm and consistent legal action. Prof. Muzakkir Samidan, Professor of Islamic Criminal Law at IAIN Langsa, urged that law enforcement against corruptors provide a genuine deterrent effect.

Regarding the emerging discourse on amnesty or pardons for perpetrators of corruption, Prof. Muzakkir cautioned authorities to review the matter thoroughly and carefully. This step is considered crucial to ensure that efforts to reform the legal system are not compromised.

In addition, he urged the government to strengthen existing regulatory frameworks. A key priority that needs immediate completion is accelerating the passage of regulations on the forfeiture of corruptors' assets. According to him, eradicating corruption also requires active involvement from all levels of society to build a robust anti-corruption culture in the country.
