BANDA ACEH — General Elections Commission (KPU) RI member Parsadaan Harahap conducted a working visit to the Independent Election Commission (KIP) office in Banda Aceh City on Wednesday (5/8/2026) to supervise the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS) and finalize strategic preparations for the 2029 Simultaneous Elections.
This working visit marks a significant momentum in the digital transformation efforts currently carried out by election management bodies from the central to regional levels. On the occasion, Parsadaan Harahap, accompanied by the leadership of the Banda Aceh City KIP, directly inspected the readiness of facilities, infrastructure, and local personnel capabilities in operating the LMS-based digital learning system.
Modernization of Election Organizer HR Management
The supervision of the Learning Management System (LMS) platform aims to massively modernize the human resource (HR) development system for election organizers. Through the implementation of this digital platform, KPU RI is committed to driving a paradigm shift from conventional technical guidance (bimtek) methods—which tend to be face-to-face and periodic—toward structured, flexible, and sustainable learning modules.
The implementation of the LMS is deemed crucial given the complexity of the electoral stages, which require a uniform understanding of regulatory and technical operations across all levels. With the network-based platform, all election organizing personnel, from the city level down to ad hoc bodies in the field, are expected to access training materials, updated regulations, and competency assessments independently and systematically whenever needed.
Strategic Discussions for the 2029 Elections
In addition to conducting a technical review of the LMS operations, the KPU RI member's visit to the capital of Aceh Province was also utilized to discuss long-term strategic preparations heading into the 2029 Simultaneous Elections. The in-depth discussion session was held specifically on the "PeuCeudah" podcast program managed by the Banda Aceh City KIP.
Through the interactive dialogue forum, participants discussed the importance of early mapping of potential technical hurdles and institutional strengthening. The 2029 Simultaneous Elections are projected to face increasingly complex political dynamics and technological advances; thus, the readiness of digital infrastructure and HR quality are key to the successful delivery of accountable, transparent, and professional elections.
Strengthening Inter-Institutional Coordination
This supervision and visit to the Banda Aceh City KIP also underscore KPU RI's commitment to providing direct assistance to regional election organizing units. The presence of central KPU leadership in the regions is expected to absorb local input, identify operational hurdles, and ensure that all national strategic policies are precisely implemented in Indonesia's westernmost region.
Internal capacity-building measures through a combination of LMS technology modernization and election organizer literacy enhancements are scheduled to undergo periodic evaluation to ensure full readiness across all KIP and KPU ranks in facing upcoming political agendas.
