Fauzan Azima has criticized the use of government funds for ceremonial events while the public faces economic hardship due to inflation. In his notes, he urged local leaders, particularly Haili Yoga, to wisely prioritize public spending toward more pressing needs.
The message was conveyed through the story of Awan Prado, a figure known for managing money with extreme care during times of hardship. Awan Prado maintained that all expenditure must focus on long-term survival and the basic needs of the public, rather than fleeting celebrations.
When proposals were made to hold grand celebrations or feasts to make the region appear prosperous, Awan Prado firmly rejected them. He argued that lavish festivities are useless if the people's basic sustenance remains unfulfilled.
"When the people's stomachs are empty, the sound of the tambourine goes unheard," Awan Prado said.
Reflecting this philosophy, local governments are expected to refrain from organizing events that serve merely as public relations stunts. Budgetary restraint at the regional level is deemed a crucial step toward maintaining citizens' economic resilience amid inflation.
