Aceh Faces Cement Shortage, Vice Governor Fadhlullah Urges Swift Action from Central Government

Aceh faces a 500-ton daily cement deficit as prices surge to Rp120,000. Vice Gov. Fadhlullah has appealed to the Home Ministry and Danantara.

The province of Aceh is currently facing a shortage of cement supplies. In response to the situation, Aceh Vice Governor Fadhlullah moved swiftly to report the issue directly to the Minister of Home Affairs and the leadership of Danantara.

The shortage of construction materials is feared to disrupt post-disaster recovery efforts and facility rebuilding in the region. Aceh requires approximately 4,200 tons of cement daily. However, incoming supply has reached only 3,700 tons per day, resulting in a deficit of 500 tons each day.

Due to limited stock in the market, cement prices have skyrocketed. The price per bag, which previously stood at Rp70,000, has surged drastically to Rp120,000.

Upon receiving the report from the regional administration, the central government confirmed that it will immediately seek the best solution to address the cement crisis in Aceh.
