Child Abuse Case: Surabaya Police Urged to Detain Police Officer Aipda Slamet

The handling of an alleged child abuse case involving a Surabaya police officer, Aipda Slamet Hutoyo, has yet to result in an arrest. The case, which was reported to the Surabaya Metropolitan Police (Polrestabes Surabaya) on May 3, has offered no legal certainty despite the investigation running for nearly four months.

The reported officer, who remains on active duty with the Tanjung Perak Port Police in Surabaya, has not been detained by Criminal Investigation detectives. This slow response puts the independence of Polrestabes Surabaya at stake in thoroughly enforcing the law against one of its own members.

The victim's legal counsel urged the police to take immediate and decisive action to guarantee justice for the victim. Legal certainty is considered vital to maintaining public trust in the police institution.
