President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto simultaneously inaugurated five national strategic dams on Friday (10/7/2026). The inauguration ceremony was centered at the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and connected virtually via video conference to various supporting regions.
The newly operational water storage infrastructure includes two major projects in Aceh Province: the Krueng Keureuto Dam in North Aceh Regency and the Rukoh Dam in Pidie Regency. Beyond Aceh, the three other inaugurated facilities are the Sidan Dam in Bali, the Jlantah Dam in Central Java, and the Meninting Dam in NTB.
The joint inauguration was warmly welcomed by local government officials in Aceh. Aceh Regional Secretary M. Nasir, alongside members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), attended the ceremony from the Rukoh Dam site. Meanwhile, in North Aceh Regency, regency government officials attended the event directly from the Krueng Keureuto Dam area located in Paya Bakong District.
This mass inauguration aims to solidify the national food self-sufficiency and security program. To ensure that water from the dams flows directly into farmers' rice fields, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) is committed to continuing the construction and optimization of integrated irrigation networks so that the benefits can be directly felt by local farmers.
